The Market Place was started by a group of bajans who got tired of the lack of an effective classified solution for the islands. They developed The Market Place and it's functionality to ease the process of linking people together. The region is not very big and most people will know someone that knows someone etc. There is however a lot of people who are not in direct or indirect contact with each other, there is no way of communication between these people but they still have things to sell and stuff they want to buy. The best way to reach the most people is a common ground of trade, The Market Place.

In 2010 The Market Place was incorporated into the portfolio of Caliber Communications Inc. who has since then been driving development and design. Caliber will continue to develop and maintain The Market Place together with the input of it's users.
